The Western Wats, established in Utah, U.S.A. and the largest data collection in the world, will have Davao City as its second branch in the Philippines following Cebu that was begun in 2002. The company, regarded highly as the chosen company for market research by the top 500 corporations of the world, will begin operation by middle of July2008 at NCCC Mall Davao. With an initial investment of P70 million infrastructure requirements are already being brought to completion and recruitment of around 500 agents for 2008 will be begun by May. The hiring rate of the agents will be greater than P8,000. Applicants who will pass standard qualifications will be trained within 3 days to become call center agents. |

NCO Group Inc., a business process outsourcing (BPO) enterprise established in Pennsylvania, USA, built its first call center in the Philippines which has 150 seats, in Quezon City, Philippines. Presently, a new call center at the Clark Freeport is the recent addition to its worldwide network of around 140 call centers. The facility at Clark is believed to make 15,000 new jobs. A first batch of 5,000 workers will be recruited and when a second building at Clark becomes usable for call center operations, additional workers of up to 10,000 will be recruited. |

Commission on Information and Communication Technology (CICT) reports outsourcing investments in 17 areas such as in Bacolod, Bacoor, Baguio, Batangas City, Cagayan de Oro, Cainta, Naga City, Cebu, Angeles, Davao, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Lipa, Manila, Sta. Rosa and Dagupan. The investors are from the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry. Moreover, according to Commisoner Monchito Ibrahim, CICT has identified a total of 22 areas in its drive to establish so called ICT hubs ideal for BPO investors. Also, they are now adding Tagbiliran and Tuguegarao for their list. |

English is the universal language. Without the knowledge of this powerful language, Call Center industry would not be possible to succeed. Since, the major qualification of being an employee of a call center is to be fluent in English; Senator Pangilinan believes that the root of success of those people in the call center industry must come from the teachers. Furthermore, the senator said that teachers should take English Proficiency exams, for them to be able to cope up the needs of the call center with regards to employment. He said that the number of applicants is very low because of not having the knowledge of the spoken language. |
