Convergy's Corporation is one of the famous and excellent call centers in the Philippines and even in other country. Convergys posted $716.4 million in first quarter revenues. It operates more than 75,000 workers in 85 contact centers. The company also employs 12,000 workers in India. Convergys currently has more than 13,000 workers in the Philippines, making the country the second largest workforce population outside of US. According to Andrea Ayers, President of Convergys customer management business, US is now experiencing economic slowdown, she is confident that the demand or request of the customers having Philippines as the country which is excellent in outsourcing call center work would be successful. Ayers also added that the customers are looking for high-quality customer care but want a less expensive alternative to running it in-house. She said that the demand right now is in the Philippines. And because of this, Convergys announced the plans for having five more call centers to suffice that demand. Those call centers will be located at UP Science Park in Quezon City, San Lazaro in Manila and Glorietta 5 in Makati City, Cebu and in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. These five new sites are expected to bring 7,000 more jobs in the Philippines. Moreover, the Sta. Rosa facility is seen to be an eco-friendly call center for Convergys. Many plans are being said by Jomari Mercado, business development director for Convergys. They include housing area which would serve as dormitories for 950 employees or agents for 660 seats, which would come from nearby provinces, including those in Metro Manila. Also, the facility will use solar panel that is planning to harness solar power to provide electricity for public premises including streetlamps. A man-made lake is also being constructed to take advantage of rainfall as water resource. In addition to this, this project would be a great help for those Filipino people who are in need of jobs. Through this expanding demand of call centers in the Philippines, It would help not only the Filipinos but also our economy that would definitely decrease the economic problems that we are now experiencing. Furthermore, two competencies that the call center is needing are being good in speaking the universal language which is English and being hospitable and approachable. These two are the exact traits that Filipinos have. Therefore, Filipinos are really suitable for this job. |
