To prove that Philippine is still a vital global site, Telus International Philippines, a unit of Canada’s leading telecommunications company, will expand its Philippine operation through hiring more agents to serve the rising number of the multinational clients. According to Paul Egger, International vice-president for global operations, the company would like to continue to focus in their contact center operations for the near term.
In addition, he said that because of the country’s advantage in having a ready pool of English speakers, the company prefer to hire Filipinos as their call center agents. Another thing that is put into consideration is when the Philippines is recently considered as the world’s biggest call center in the world, exceeding India. At present, the company continues to increase its IT services to 50%- 100% this year by planning to build its fifth site in Metro Manila to add up with their sites like in Cubao’s Araneta Center, which caters to over 2,500 employees, Market Market mall in Taguig’s Global City, in JMT Building in Ortigas Center, and in Pasig’s Discovery Center.
