Call Centre industry in the Philippines is still bumping with the fact that Vodafone jobs will go in the Philippines on November, after its contract with the Melbourne-based supplier Service Stream ends next month. Service Stream said that 450 people, including part-time workers, would be laid off in Melbourne. "Stellar will use a combination of onshore and offshore resources, based in Brisbane and the Philippines," said VHA in a statement yesterday, estimating the total number of full-time equivalent jobs involved to be about 100.
Moreover, Stellar currently supplies 3 Mobile directory assistance and paging services, VHA said. Vodafone Australia Limited and Hutchison 3G Australia, trading as 3, formed the 50/50 joint venture Vodafone Hutchison Australia in June. John Zisis, Stellar's General Manager for Operations said that the company was expecting no job losses. Also, he did not comment on the 100 job estimate.
Still, Philippines is conquering the world of Call Center. This is another treasure for the Philippines. May this project help our economy in to stand again after the super typhoon Ondoy. Job opportunities must give to those people involved in the calamity. [via] |
