To further provide assistance to their scholars, the Technical Education and Skills Development Administration (TESDA-CAR) is planning to put into action a "Job Bridging" program. Cenon Querubin, TESDA-CAR Director, said that the Job Bridging program is a new concept which aims to assist new Pangulong Gloria Scholarship (PGS) graduates. Gold Cards will be given to the PGS graduates so that they will have an access to the new TESDA job related services portal Jobs.jb.com. TESDA-CAR already has 6,561 graduates of the PGS programas of September 15. They expect to have about 8,000 graduates this year. TESDA also commissioned the Business Processing Association of the Philippines(BPAP) to execute their programs to call center agents, medical transcriptionists and other IT related TEK-BOK courses. Call Centers and Business Process Outsourcing (BPOs) are incorporated in the regular job program of TESDA. Querubin also stated that skills training and development will be a vital part in the employment division. He said, "Malaking bagay ang mga training, let us not only look at wage and employment side, we should also look at the self employment side, as people can also start with a simple business."
In this concern, TESDA will give starter kits to their graduates, like masseurs, manicurists, hair cutters and automotive mechanics. The Competency Assessment Program of TESDA will give free competency exams to their scholars and walk-in applicants. They should remember that a TESDA Competency Certificate is not only being recognized here in the Phils. but also abroad. Language Skill Institute or LSI is another TESDA program that is becoming popular. This program currently offers Nihonggo, Korean and English Language Skills Training for applicants who want to go abroad. [via PIA.gov.ph] |
