ePLDT Ventus Takes Over PAL's Call Center Operations

ePLDT Ventus, a subsidiary of Philippines Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT), is now taking over the PAL's (Philippine Airlines) call center operations.

The partnership will be effective on June 1, 2010 after the two companies signed formally the outsourcing agreement.

PAL President Jaime Bautista in a statement said that the partnership was made to enhance its operational competence and productivity to face the stiffer challenges in the market.

And with the takeover of ePLDT Ventus, their latest technology and highly competent workforce are good enough to address PAL's medical, information technology unit, and some human resource and administrative positions.

In the mean time, more PAL employees will be laid off in the company's restructuring, but job offers will be extended to all affected employees of PAL's reservation sales units in Manila and Cebu, and the Mabuhay Miles Center. The said employees will be priority in filling up approximately 600 agent positions at ePLDT Ventus. [via abs-cbnnews.com]
