To react to some media reports, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry cleared that Cyber Sex is not part of the industry in any way. According to Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT), the government body overseeing the welfare of the country's ICT development and the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP), the umbrella association of some 320 BPO companies in the Philippines, cyber sex should not be compared to outsourcing since the illegal practice is committed from various sites around the globe and is not being off shored to the Philippines.
Ivan Uy, CICT chair secretary, and Oscar Sañez , BPAP president and CEO said that cyber sex is pervasive on the worldwide web adn basically online porn and is not part of the off shoring industry. Wrong association of cyber sex to BPO could have adverse effects on the image of the Philippines as a top outsourcing destination. BPAP and CICT with the rest of the Philippine BPO industry condemn online sex trade and believe that any involvement in such practice should be criminally prosecuted. [via newsinfo.inquirer.net] |
