During the press briefing in Quezon City last week, the $6 billion call center and BPO industry had launched the Association of Call Center Agents of the Philippines or ACCAP. Their goal is to have a non-profit organization that will bond and will help to advocate the fast growing community of call center and BPO workers in the country. Kevin Carreon, ACCAP secretary general , said, Over the past ten years, the country has become a major outsourcing destination and extremely competitive due to the highly trained English speaking Filipino agents. This is the reason why more and more US and UK companies prefer the Philippines to outsource jobs.
Call center and BPO workers are now 800,000. For queries, visit the ACCAP website, accap.ph. [via philstar.com] |
