BPO Growth and High OFW Remittances Prevents Recession

The sustained development of the BPO sector and the high OFW remittances had helped the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to deny the economic downturn of the country. These are means of recuperating the investors' investments.  According to BSP Governor Amando Tetangco Jr., these are the reasons why the economy should stay optimistic and confident that recession will no longer happen in the country. This year, BPO sector will earn 6 billion dollars according to the vision of BSP. Call centers are increasing in Bacolod City, more job openings are provided to its residents. A press conference was conducted recently by Utah-based Focus Pacific Incorporated. They stated their growth and they will employ 165 call center agents. Focus Pacific President and Utah Senator Dan Liljenquist preferred the Philippines rather than India to be their first spot outside US. The reason is that their clients in US are requesting the services of Filipinos particularly those who reside in Bacolod. Clients believe in the quality of work of Filipino agent.

Focus Pacific executives commend the City of Bacolod for their open and upright view of the plans for Bacolod could. Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, chair of the information and communication committee lead the Bacolod IT Focus Team. Teleperformance is another call center which needs 300 call center agents. The company already announced the hiring last May and it ended last June 30. Qualified applicants will be given high salary, sign on bonus, and a 20% night differential. [via PIA]
