With the visit of Director General Lilia de Lima of Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), she declared that Negros Occidental capital, Bacolod City, is one of the fastest growing potential investment sites in the country especially in information technology (IT). De Lima visited some of the existing IT parks and centers in Bacolod such as Luxur IT Park where call center company, Teleperformance is located; Lopue's East IT Centre, site of similar firm, Telequest; East Block IT Park where Next Level IT Teleservices is located and Robinsons Cybergate, where Teletech has chosen to build its quarters.
Bacolod was declared with such credit for it has the most number of IT ecozones outside the Metro Manila and Cebu. This is also the reason why Bacolod is ranked 5th among the top ten next wave cities (NWC) as confirmed by the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT), and the Business Process Association of the Philippines (BPAP). With these credits, Bacolod continues to evolve in terms of IT sites. More investments are expected to come in Bacolod that will enable the city to be amongst the top NWCs and will provide more job opportunities for its populace. [via mb.com.ph] |
