Transcom, founded in Sweden in 1995, is a leading BPO company in Europe. It was mainly owned by Swedish investment group Kinnevik, the 8th largest company in Europe with over 22,000 workforce in 29 countries. Outbound sales, inbound care, and collection services are its specialization. Transcom Asia started its operations last August 1. It has 1,000 seat facility famous as Transcom Center Bacolod at Lopue’s South Square. According to Duncan Cowie, the Regional General Manager for North America and Asia Pacific, the inauguration of Transcom Center Bacolod will be in October during the celebration of MassKara Festival. He added that the Transcom Center Bacolod will be part of the Transcom City complex. This will include sports, recreational, and wellness features for its employees. According to Siva Subramaniam, Transcom Philippines Country Manager, the Bacolod business is expected to boom by the end of 2009 wherein they will hire 2,000 call center agents. Bacolod is now Transcom's 2nd site in the Philippines after the 1st facility was opened last year in Pasig City. The Transcom Center in Bacolod will be the 14th site to be endorsed by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority in Bacolod. And when the presidential proclamation was already issued, it will be the 8th IT economic zone in the urban.
Bacolod now hosts four major call centers which includes Teleperformance, TeleTech, Convergys, and now Transcom. The city also controls the three medium-sized BPO companies, Focus Pacific Communications, Next Level IT Teleservices, and Telequest BPO Center. [via]
